林小姐下班路過中環結志街菜欄，也跟手買了一個紅菜頭，笑言：「自己之前都有用嚟煲湯，都知道好，不過，天然食品唔會食完即刻有反應。今次買一個試吓搾汁。」

紅菜頭來自歐洲，近年「紅」遍香港，更有人在中環街市「掃貨」。究竟它為何會那麼紅？有何好處呢？

位於中環結志街的華記菜欄老闆娘 May姐，就將紅菜頭放於菜檔入口當眼處，她向記者介紹：「我賣嘅紅菜頭係本港新界有機種。有啲和尚尼姑都會用佢嚟搾汁，補充營養。」紅菜頭有豐富色素， May姐切開一個小的紅菜頭請記者試食，邊切邊說：「切完把刀係紅嘅，手又紅。」生食紅菜頭，口感有點像蘿蔔，算是爽口，更有一陣淡淡的蔬菜甜味。
