耶誕節慶的真正故鄉是浙江義烏

根據中國大陸官方新華社，全世界超過60%的耶誕裝飾來自中國浙江義烏。西方媒體驚呼，別提芬蘭了，原來耶誕節是在「義烏製造」。

英國廣播公司（BBC）和美國哈芬登郵報（The Huffington Post）都報導義烏現場巡禮，在這個廣達400萬平方公尺的義烏市場裡有6萬2000個攤位，每天湧進4萬名訪客，據稱其中5000名是外國買主。BBC記者宣稱，步行15分鐘，眼中所見全都是一樣的文具用品。

義烏批發市場分成5區，從辦公室用品到珠寶、玩具、電子產品，每個攤位商品自地上堆疊到天花板，商品經常可依買主需求作客製化調整。

哈芬登郵報指出，義烏市場讓一些人有機會脫貧，躋身中國大陸中產階級。只需要一些資金、商業知識、加上運氣，當地人便可自行開工廠。但義烏市場可能因更多買主轉向像阿里巴巴的網站，進而走向式微。

曾參觀現場的英國學生羅德（Gemma Lord）說：「對我來說最特別的是，這些人投入一輩子時間製作和他們無關的東西，以及他們根本不瞭解的語言。然後送到世界另一端賣給我們，而我們可能用上一星期後便扔了。」
