林超賢導演的前作《激戰》，口碑好，票房又勁，除了張家輝一身肌肉夠吸引外，主題夠正能量，看得觀眾開開心心，也重要。在災難現場，大家都渴求找尋到一線曙光，而你和我都正身陷災難現場。

我欣賞導演沒有因此便陽光下去。論野心，新作《魔警》更大，夠膽以吳彥祖作核心，大勇的張家輝只作配合，擅長拍攝的槍戰與動作依然出色，但更多篇幅用來仔細描述一個有關人性被壓抑到崩潰的故事。吳彥祖飾演的魔警，因童年時一次行動，被內疚感困擾一生，以循規蹈矩和自虐來贖罪，但意外救了悍匪張家輝一命，目睹自己間接連累無數無辜之人枉死，意圖撥亂反正，最終無法自控，人格分裂，步向自毀。
