Advertisements promise that this will be "the defining chapter" of the franchise, and fans of the Middle Earth saga are surely excited to see the titular battle portrayed on the big screen. Outside of hardcore fans, though, it doesn't seem like there's much excitement surrounding this finale.
賣座情勢分析：
彼得傑克森的「哈比人」三部曲，終於要在今年十二月以「五軍之戰」畫 下休止符。現階段的廣告不僅指出他是系列電影中「最關鍵的章節」，中土世界的影/書 迷，應該也會為這場經典戰役終於搬進大銀幕感到興奮。然而，對J. R. R. Tolkien(哈 比人原作者)作品興趣不是那麼高的其他鄉民，對於這部完結篇的興趣似乎就不是那麼高 了。 The franchise is currently on a downward trajectory: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey earned 20 percent less than The Return of the King, while The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was off 15 percent from An Unexpected Journey.

不過，這樣的失血狀況應該可以在「五軍之戰」獲得控制。不僅是因為「荒谷惡龍」的口 碑比起第一集來得更優秀，也是因為系列電影的完結篇通常都會在票房上不錯的表現。 Unlike the last two years, though, The Hobbit isn't the only major movie coming out this December. Noting the lukewarm reception of the first installment, other studios programmed some very competitive titles: Exodus: Gods and Kings, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Into the Woods should all chip away at this movie's audience.

由於以上的利空因素，「五軍之戰」不僅將面臨跟上集相比一定程度的衰退(可能介於百 分之5到10之間)，恐怕也將成為彼得傑克森改編托爾金中土世界史詩6部作品中，美國本 土票房收入最低、買票人數最少的一部。 Forecast: $235 million ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 心得：Box Office對於今年年終檔系列電影在美國當地票房的預測， 本來就跟上一集相比相對保留，而且不少已經上映的電影， 現階段的成績都比Ray Subers的預測還來得低。 ．星際效應：原本估2.6億，目前累積到1.5億，要破兩億的機率不高 ．飢餓遊戲3：原本估3.8億，目前的走勢即使破三億也不容易追上「星際異攻隊」 ．暴走企鵝：原本估1.35億，現在即使破億也不會超過此範圍太多 ．老闆不是人2：原本估有機會破億，現在幾乎確定是不可能任務 如今以這些電影的成績看來，預測五軍之戰跌破2.5億反而變成一種合理預測？ --
