英國碳信託公司 (Carbon Trust)的新研究報告指出，利用行動數據串流一場足球賽到智慧手機或平板電腦上，產生的碳排放量和開汽油車輛行駛10哩(16公里)相同。

然而，如果是透過Wi-Fi串流來看比賽，產生的碳排放則會比在電視上看相同賽事減少八倍多。碳信託公司說，最環保的觀賞電視節目方式，是和其他人在家裡或pub共享一個螢幕。
