《華爾街日報》週二 (11 日) 引述知情人士報導，iPhone 及 iPad 製造商蘋果 (Apple)(AAPL-US) 主要代工廠台灣鴻海 (2317-TW)，正悄悄與蘋果對手 Android 作業系統開發商 Google (GOOG-US) 進行合作。

知情人士透露，鴻海自去年開始與前 Android 部門主管 Andy Rubin 合作，持續研究如何實現 Google 研發的機器人自動設備技術。消息並稱，鴻海為了加快自家工廠的機器人配置速度，董事長郭台銘近期已與 Rubin 在台北會面討論新的機器人技術。

知情人士表示，郭在會面時對 Rubin 展示的新自動化技術感到興奮，而同時 Rubin 也要求郭協助將 Google 正在買下的一家科技企業併入鴻海，原因是鴻海的效力將仰賴機械工程。

《紐約時報》去年 12 月率先披露，Google 已成立一個新的機器人技術團隊，並在去年一年買下了 8 家機器人技術公司，包括設計美國國防部行動搜尋機器人的工程公司 Boston Dynamics。報導當時補充，Google 的新團隊內容鎖定製造技術，例如目前仍大量仰賴人力的電子產品組裝。

分析師指出，Google 與鴻海合作有道理，因為鴻海是全球最大電子裝置代工公司，可提供 Google 的機器人技術最佳測試經驗。他們預期 Google 會為代工廠設計一個新的機器人作業系統，如同為智慧手機及平板電腦設計的 Android 作業系統。
