十年磨劍：比喻多年刻苦磨練。

【出處】：唐·賈島《劍客》詩：“十年磨一劍，霜刃未曾試。今日把似君，誰為不平事？”

語譯：我以十年的光陰，慢工細活地磨鍊出一把寶劍，劍刃閃閃發光，有如冰霜，但卻未曾試過它的鋒利。今日取劍展示予你，若是誰有不平之事，我必為其效力。

這是一把什麼樣的劍呢？“十年磨一劍”，是劍客花了十年工夫精心磨制的。側寫一筆，已顯出此劍非同一般。接著，正面一點：“霜刃未曾試。”寫出此劍刃白如霜，閃爍著寒光，是一把鋒利無比卻還沒有試過鋒芒的寶劍。說“未曾試”，便有躍躍欲試之意。現在得遇知賢善任的“君”，便充滿自信地說：“今日把示君，誰有不平事？”今天將這把利劍拿出來給你看看，告訴我，天下誰有冤屈不平的事？一種急欲施展才能，幹一番事業的壯志豪情，躍然紙上
