1.是不是 it is ,is被省略掉了嗎?
lifted是子句的主要動詞，是過去簡單式，主動。it = the crane，因為是起重機在吊木頭，所以用lift這個及物動詞。
2.as 前面是不是省略了which呢？
as是連接詞，帶出一個副詞子句，修飾述部stood and watched the crane，提供時間點。這裡不是形容詞子句，無法用到關係代名詞which。
3.as前面為什麼不用逗點呢?
因為as所帶出的附屬子句放在主要子句前面時才要加逗號，而本句是放在後面。
4.as 在這裡是翻譯因為嗎?
as = 當...之時 ＝ when
5.as通常放在句首翻譯因為，但是這裡的as看起來即不像句首也不像逗號後的子句
要看上下文才能決定as的意思：
As I was leaving, the phone rang. (當＝when, while）
The results were not as bad as I had expected. （如同=in the same way）
We chose Calvert to lend us as he said he knew the way. (因為＝because）
Strange as it may see I never really wanted to be rich. (雖然＝although）
