Henry持續對老化和死亡感到興趣,但紐約城中一個富裕的老人可就不這麼想,

他正迫切地尋找青春不死的辦法;當一家診所製造出昂貴的不老藥水: Aterna,

理當為尋回的青春的人們帶來生機,但相反的卻導致多人死亡。Henry和Jo深入調查後發現,

飲用藥水的人不但沒變年輕,反而讓大腦產生病變,更糟糕的是Henry發現Abe的名字

竟出現在診所的病人名單中。

在1906年的回憶情節裡, Henry的一個好友被診斷出罹患肺結核。
